Can’t a woman be crazy about football too???
So, I will admit it… I’m a football fan. A big one. Which isn’t really all that strange for girls in the South. Especially the Southeast.
But I’m not just a fan of the sport. I am an Alabama Football fan. I love my Crimson Tide. And I’ve always been a fan - I grew up going to games with my family. Hell, the 1992 Sugar Bowl was a family trip! But over the past few years, some may say that my fandom has gotten a little over-the-top. Maybe you’d say I’m a little obsessed, or overly invested in my team. Example - I was online refreshing Scout.com and Rivals.com over and over again on Signing Day. I knew more than my husband did about who we signed, who committed, who we lost…. Why, you may ask? I don’t know - but it was fun! And interesting to talk about.
So what I noticed as I read and listened and watched and read some more about my team, was that about 99% of the time, the people talking about my team, its players, its coaches, were men.
What’s up with that??? In 2009, can’t a chick have an opinion on football? I know a lot of chicks that have plenty of opinions on football - and valid ones at that! So why aren’t we represented? We may not play football, but hey - neither does Paul Finebaum!
So here I am - A chick who loves football - Alabama Football - and I’m here to blog about it!
